Each year, locals vote on their favorite Warren County attractions in various categories. One such category is the “Best Hangout for Teens”. Fortunately, all of the recent top picks are also, in this mom’s humble opinion, great spots for families to share with their teens!
Kings Island (Mason, OH) – I have had the good fortune of visiting this park since it first opened. I went as a teen, on a grown-up date, and as a mom on several occasions as my son has grown from toddler to teen. Each and every experience has been a blast. You may recall from a previous blog about The Banshee that I am a bit of a coaster fanatic. The thrill of riding this record-breaking coaster was amazing in and of itself, but getting to ride with my teenage son? Well, like the commercials say, “priceless”. Of course, my son loves to enjoy both Kings Island and Soak City (included with your Kings Island admission) with his friends. There are rides from mild to wild, arcade games, and food – lots of food. What more could a teenager want in a day? And, from a mom’s perspective, how many places can you really go with a teenager and truly both have fun?
Ozone Zipline Adventures (Oregonia, OH) – Ziplining here is pure adrenaline-pumping awesomeness. Teens have nominated this as one of their fave Warren County spots nearly every year since it opened. Fresh air, fast zip lines, breathtaking scenery, and a little learning along the way, all make for a perfect day of fun for families with teens. Our family enjoyed the river line tour. And I do mean ENJOYED! One thing still on my family’s bucket list is Ozone’s full moon night zipping.
The Beach (Mason, OH) – We previously posted a blog about all 3 of our area water parks. The Beach continues to add new rides and improve upon existing ones, including slides, a zip line, and a lazy river. On select summer dates, they offer “Reggae Sundays” with live music. And perhaps one of the reasons it’s so popular with teens is that it has a night dedicated to them! Club Splash is a “teen night club” in the Paradise Cove part of the park. Open on select nights, there is DJ-supplied music, dancing, and more teen-themed fun.
Lazer Kraze (Maineville/Mason, OH) – Since I wrote my last blog about this popular local attraction, they have moved, enlarged, and added an indoor trampoline park, taking their fun to a whole new level. While I have yet to personally experience the trampolines, I can tell you that lots of locals love it. You can jump off the walls, play mid-air dodgeball, or shoot hoops on the basketball slam jumper.
Perhaps what makes all of these teen-friendly attractions even more fabulous for me as a mom, is that they are all within about a 15-mile radius. I can book one hotel and set off for a variety of convenient adventures. Fun, easy, and affordable? That’s what I call a vacation!
