A Warren County Winter: Holiday Happenings for the Young and Young at Heart

Winter in Ohio may mean chilly temps and snow-covered streets, but it’s also one of the most charming and delightful times for visitors to experience the many wonders of Warren County. Awe-inspiring light displays, old-time traditions, and so much more make Ohio’s Largest Playground a holiday destination not to be missed–particularly for those traveling with children. Here is just a small sampling of the heartwarming–and heart-racing–holiday fun that awaits kids (and kids at heart) in Warren County.

Lebanon Horse-Drawn Carriage Parade & Christmas Festival
Celebrated annually on the first Saturday of December, this longtime Lebanon tradition marks the unofficial start of the Warren County winter–and the arrival of Santa Claus! Two parades–one during the afternoon for early birds, and a second candlelit procession at dusk–feature more than 100 antique carriages pulled by majestic Clydesdales, Percherons, and many other breeds of horse. Live entertainment, food and craft booths, and specialty shopping throughout Downtown Lebanon’s incredible array of antique and boutique storefronts round out the family-friendly fun.

Lebanon Mason & Monroe Railroad’s North Pole Express
Just down the street from the carriage parade, the LM&M Railroad treats spirited guests to 2-hour, holiday-themed train rides upon its festively decorated “North Pole Express”. Riders listen (and sing along) to holiday music, enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, and mingle with cheerful elves as they make their way to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at the North Pole!

Beach Mountain
The wintertime counterpart to Mason’s Beach Waterpark, Beach Mountain sends thrill seekers speeding and spiraling down a 10-lane, 400-foot snow tubing hill over and over again. A winter village-themed play area perfect for snowmen, snow forts, and snow angels adds to the fun, while hot cocoa and refreshments keeps guests warm and cozy all day long.

The Christmas Ranch
No winter getaway would be complete without holiday lights! Featured nationally by HGTV and Good Morning America, this sprawling staple of winter in Warren County boasts more than one million twinkling LED lights synchronized to music, plus festive shops, snacks, train rides and more!

Snowland at Great Wolf Lodge
When the calendar turns to winter, Mason’s Great Wolf Lodge transforms into Snowland–a winter wonderland complete with life-size gingerbread houses, Santa visits, holiday activities and more. The lodge’s 84-degree indoor waterpark also remains open, of course, for those seeking an escape from the wintertime chill.

Just around the corner…
Traveling with a train lover? Don’t miss Christmas at EnterTRAINment Junction–home to the world’s largest indoor model train display–or Holiday Junction at the Cincinnati Museum Center. Be sure to swing through the Cincinnati Zoo as well, as it celebrates the season with its annual PNC Festival of Lights!
