As another thrilling year of record-breaking roller coasters, fun foodie festivals, charming small-town shopping, and wild and winding water slides comes to a close in Warren County, we turn with excitement to a brand new year of more of the same–and then some! Planning a 2017 getaway to Southwest Ohio? You couldn’t have picked a better time! Here’s just a glimpse of the exciting new attractions in-store for those visiting Ohio’s Largest Playground in the year ahead.
Headlining the year’s list of new additions are two new draws coming to the county’s world-renowned amusement park, Kings Island. Opening in April of 2017, Mystic Timbers will be the newest addition to the park’s already iconic lineup of roller coasters. Boasting a 109-foot lift hill, top speeds of 53 mph, and 3,265 feet of wooden track, the cryptic, wilderness-themed thrill ride will give Kings Island more wooden coaster track than any other park worldwide, making it the undisputed wooden coaster king of the amusement park industry.
Kings Island guests are also in for four full seasons of fun in the year ahead, as 2017 marks the long-awaited return of WinterFest. Following a 12-year hiatus, the park’s once-annual holiday draw will feature ice skating on the Royal Fountain, several state-of-the-art lighting scenes, spectacular stage shows, and much more holiday-themed fun, including the transformation of the park’s iconic Eiffel Tower into a giant Christmas tree visible from miles away. Simply put, the park promises the new and revamped WinterFest will be “the biggest and best” its ever had!
Just north of Kings Island, along the charming small-town streets of Historic Downtown Lebanon, the Golden Lamb Restaurant & Hotel is also teasing upgrades for 2017. Named both “Ohio’s Most Iconic Hotel” and “Ohio’s Most Iconic Restaurant” by Thrillist.com, the Warren County staple is Ohio’s oldest continuously operating business and a must-stop spot for foodies and history buffs alike.
History lovers won’t want to miss the new additions to Harveysburg’s Ohio Renaissance Festival and Celtic Fest either. Extended one weekend longer for 2017, the always-popular RenFest will introduce a new themed weekend in the year ahead–Fantasy Weekend. Meanwhile, the 2017 Celtic Fest will showcase a live music lineup that’s roughly three times as large as years past.
